GA Scholastic Art Awards
Great news for the following students! I found out today that their work was awarded and recognized by the Georgia Scholastic Art Awards judges. This is a great honor as this is considered one of the largest and most recognized competitions at the state and national level for high school art students. Last year, over 320,000 original works of art and writing were submitted from across the nation. I am so proud of these students for their hard work and dedication to their craft!
The students awarded Silver Key Awards will be honored at a gallery exhibit and awards reception and ceremony at the Savannah College of Art and Design in March.

Advanced Placement Studio students submitted work for adjudication in the All-State Art Symposium at Columbus State University. This symposium recognizes excellence in high school art students. The culminating event for this adjudication is a month-long exhibit at Columbus State University.
I am proud to announce that Mario Pozos, Itzell Daniel, Andrea Contreras, Alex Garnica, Abril Ochoa, Daniela Diaz, and Maribel Fraire were all selected as District Finalists. Our district consists of 19 counties in North Georgia (whew!)
I am also thrilled to announce that Alex Garnica was then selected to have his work on exhibit at Columbus State University and was selected as a state winner. This work will go on to another round of judging where it has the potential to receive other high honors!
On another note...Alex Garnica was also recently awarded 2nd Place in adjudication in the Paul Torrence International Creativity Art Competition. He competed with students from all across the US and around the world (India, Poland, New Zeland to list a few!)
